Cabbage prefers rich and fertile soil.
It does best in fertile loam, and it can be successfully grown on a wide range of soils provided drainage and fertility are good. As vegetables respond readily to organic fertilizers it will be advisable that adequate manure/organic matter be worked into the soil before the crop is planted.
